Job Summary

NGO PRESENTATION

ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is an international medical humanitarian NGO, created in 2009. It provides quality healthcare to vulnerable populations facing health crises, epidemics or natural disasters.

ALIMA intervenes in humanitarian crises, in areas of conflict , epidemics , and malnutrition where medical needs are most urgent. ALIMA combines emergency care with longer-term research projects to develop new solutions and sustainably improve the care provided to the most vulnerable populations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hierarchical and functional links:

Line Supervisor: Director of Communications

Personnel under his/her hierarchical responsibility: He/she supervises a Digital Communication Officer (more specifically in charge of social networks) and a photographer / videographer / editor.

He/she collaborates with:

  • The Communication team, including the operational Communication division (headquarters and country);

  • The Development / Data Collection team;

  • The offices of ALIMA France, USA and ALIMA UK;

  • The IT teams;

  • External service providers: web agencies, digital tools, etc.

Job requirements:

The position aims to strengthen ALIMA's visibility, the consistency of its image and the performance of its digital ecosystem.

Missions and objectives:

In accordance with the strategic directions and priorities set by the Director of Communications, your main responsibilities are to:

  • Develop ALIMA's brand awareness among target audiences in France, the United States, the United Kingdom and more broadly internationally;

  • To promote ALIMA's humanitarian medical actions, its expertise, its emergency services and its partnership model;

  • Structuring the organization's digital tools to improve collective efficiency;

  • Supporting the production, distribution and promotion of editorial, video, web and social media content;

  • Supporting institutional communication, advocacy, fundraising and employer branding campaigns;

  • Define and monitor the numerical indicators of your performance on the different ALIMA platforms (website traffic, social media traffic, online donation platform traffic, Google & Microsoft advertising accounts, KPIs on Monday);

  • To ensure the consistency, security, compliance and continuous improvement of the digital ecosystem;

  • Managing a digital team integrated within the communications department.

Your objectives are both:

  • Qualitative: develop ALIMA's visibility on the web and social networks, enhance its image and explain its positioning;

  • Quantitative: to increase ALIMA's audience within various communities, traffic to the ALIMA website, and contribute to increasing online donations…

MAIN ACTIVITIES

1. Define, formalize and implement the digital communication strategy

  • In accordance with the annual communication plan and the guidelines of the Director of Communication, define, formalize and implement a digital strategy;

  • Ensuring consistency between different digital channels, as well as their performance: website, social networks, newsletter, digital campaigns...

  • Arbitrate editorial priorities in consultation with the operational communications manager in relation to strategy, institutional highlights, emergencies, campaigns, research projects and country news;

  • Regularly monitor the performance of digital activities through quarterly, semi-annual, and annual indicators. Produce analyses, reports, and recommendations to improve existing content, campaigns, and tools. Propose adjustments or corrective actions as needed based on observed results.

2. Manage ALIMA's web ecosystem

  • Administer ALIMA's institutional website ;

  • Coordinate and implement the functional, editorial and technical developments of the site;

  • Publish, update and optimize content: articles, country pages, expertise pages, institutional pages, campaign pages, etc.;

  • Ensure SEO optimization of content and key strategic pages;

  • Ensure the updating of key data and institutional content on the site;

  • Monitor and improve site performance using analytics tools;

  • Coordinate web service providers and ensure follow-up on tickets, change requests, corrections and maintenance;

  • Manage projects for redesigning, improving or creating new pages;

  • Ensure consistency between the French and English versions of the site;

  • Supporting the creation or monitoring of mini-sites, satellite sites or pages dedicated to certain projects;

  • Ensure continuous improvement of user experience, accessibility, readability, retention and conversion.

3. Oversee the social media strategy and ensure digital editorial consistency

  • To ensure a coherent and effective social media strategy in relation to the priorities set in the communication plan and to validate the main editorial directions proposed for social networks;

  • Supporting the Digital Communication Manager in prioritizing topics, key moments and social media campaigns;

  • Prioritize dissemination based on news, emergencies, institutional campaigns and visibility objectives;

  • Ensure consistency in tone, messaging, graphic design and positioning of ALIMA on social media;

  • To provide a review, validation or arbitration role for sensitive, strategic or emergency-related content;

  • Ensure proper coordination between social media and ALIMA's other digital channels: website, newsletter, campaigns, project pages and video content.

4. Manage the production and promotion of digital content

  • Stimulate and coordinate the production of articles, videos and digital materials;

  • Review, optimize and adapt content for different channels;

  • Supporting teams in structuring key messages according to web and social media requirements;

  • To manage or coordinate video projects, from the framing phase to distribution;

  • Contribute to defining editorial angles according to web and social media requirements;

  • Write short “teaser” articles on the website to promote ALIMA videos in the “Videos” section and press coverage in the “In the Media” section.

5. Design, produce and distribute the newsletter and certain email marketing materials

  • Select, prioritize and adapt the content;

  • Ensure the preparation, integration, sending and analysis of newsletters;

  • Track performance: open rate, click-through rate, database growth, unsubscribes;

  • Suggest improvements to format, pacing, segmentation or content;

  • Contribute to address collection and audience loyalty programs;

  • Ensure consistency with communication and fundraising campaigns.

6. Support institutional and fundraising digital campaigns

  • Contribute to the digital strategy of institutional and fundraising campaigns (the latter being managed by the development teams);

  • Relay and adapt the calls for donations on the website;

  • Monitor SEA/SMA campaigns in coordination with the relevant teams and service providers;

  • Participate in discussions on landing pages, user journeys and conversion tools;

  • Monitor campaign performance and produce analyses useful for decision-making;

  • Supporting projects for the development of advertising accounts or international initiatives.

7. Structure internal tools, processes, and digital organization

  • Administer and structure Monday.com for the Communications team;

  • Create, improve and maintain tracking dashboards, workflows, forms and automations;

  • Supporting the integration of country communication officers into common tools;

  • Formalize editorial, digital or organizational processes;

  • Contribute to improving collaboration methods between headquarters, countries and other departments;

  • Supporting the adoption of new digital or collaborative tools, particularly those related to artificial intelligence;

  • To support the various departments in their digital communication projects, if needed.

8. Ensure budgetary, administrative and supplier monitoring of digital projects

  • Ensure adherence to budgets related to digital projects and defined priorities

  • Manage the preparation, monitoring and validation of quotes, invoices, purchase orders or contracts related to digital projects

  • Coordinate exchanges with service providers;

  • Monitor deliverables, deadlines and the quality of services;

  • Participate in the selection of new service providers when necessary.

9. Contribute to compliance, security, and digital reputation

  • Bringing digital materials into compliance in collaboration with IT: legal notices, GDPR, consent, forms, cookies, privacy policies;

  • Coordinate the processing of sensitive online reviews, reports or content;

  • Preventing reputational risks on digital channels;

  • To monitor and detect new tools, new trends in digital communication and potential risks.

10. Manage the digital team and support skills development

  • Organize the distribution of tasks and priorities;

  • Facilitate team and individual meetings;

  • Supporting the skills development of employees;

  • Define and monitor performance objectives, evaluate employees during annual reviews;

  • Ensure compliance with the rules, procedures and operating methods defined by the organization and hierarchy;

  • Supporting team members in prioritizing, producing, validating, and resolving roadblocks. Ensuring optimized team workload;

  • Promote a clear, fluid, empowering and collaborative organization.

COMPETENCES ET EXPERIENCES

Level of education

Postgraduate degree in communication, digital communication, digital marketing, journalism, project management or equivalent field.

Experiences

  • Proven similar experience, ideally in an NGO, an international organization, an association, an agency or a structure with a strong editorial dimension;

  • Experience in managing complex digital projects: website, redesign, campaigns, collaborative tools, editorial systems or cross-functional projects;

  • Experience in coordinating web content, social media, newsletters and digital campaigns;

  • Experience in team management;

  • Experience in managing suppliers, budget monitoring and project coordination;

  • Experience in the humanitarian, non-profit or international sector is an asset;

  • Experience in a multicultural and English-speaking environment is a plus.

Language skills

Fluency in French (native level required) and English (minimum level B2) is essential.

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in the WordPress CMS

  • Good knowledge of editorial and technical SEO.

  • Good understanding of SEA, SMA, Google Ads and Google Ad Grants.

  • Proficiency in analytical tools: GA4, Search Console, or equivalents.

  • Proficiency in the Monday.com project management tool

  • Proficiency in email marketing/newsletter tools

  • Good knowledge of social networks and their formats.

  • Ability to manage video, web and editorial projects.

  • Concepts of UX/UI, user journey and conversion.

  • Knowledge of GDPR issues, cookies, legal notices and digital compliance.

  • A strong interest in automation, artificial intelligence, and new digital tools.

  • Ability to produce dashboards, reports and recommendations.

CONDITIONS

Contract duration:

Contract under Senegalese law, permanent contract, with a 3-month probationary period renewable once, i.e. a maximum of 6 months.

Starting date:

No later than September 1, 2026

Salary :

according to the salary scale in effect at the Dakar Headquarters.

Other advantages:

  • Travel expenses between the country of origin and the home country (If recruited internationally);

  • Five weeks of paid leave per year and a system of recovery days for travel;

  • One round trip per year to the country of residence is covered for the employee and their dependents, and a second round trip per year for the employee (if recruited internationally);

  • Initial installation allowance in Dakar between €3,000 and €4,500 depending on family composition (if recruited internationally)

  • Coverage of school fees for dependent children, within the framework of the ALIMA policy and ceilings in force;

  • Supplementary health coverage and evacuation provided by ALIMA for the employee and their dependents.
